JAKARTA. The car sales of PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) in July 2021 have reached 32,958 units. This number exponentially rises by 225.03% from the sales reported in the same period last year of 10,140 units.

Head of Corporate Communications of Astra, Boy Kelana Soebroto, reannounces his optimism in the press release on Friday (13/8). He was assured that the luxury goods tax relaxation program by the government would fuel the car sales to recover.

Although the car sales significantly proliferate year-on-year, the car sales in July, in fact, decrease 19.41% from the report in June 2021 of 40,910 units. Out of the total units sold in July 2021, Toyota leads with 21,826 units, while Peugeot lags at the lowest position with four units.

The sales of low-cost green cars (LGCG) of Astra in July 2021 are reported to reach 5,564 units, a massive increase of 258.73% from 1,551 units sold in July 2020. However, the LGCG sales from January to July 2021 only score 59,420 units, declining by 18.35% from 72.780 units sold during the same period in 2020.

As of July 2021, Astra’s market share arrives at 49%, sliding off from 56% reported in June 2021. The negative trend also occurs in LGCG Astra, shifting from 70% in June 2021 to 67% in July 2021. (AM/ZH)
