JAKARTA – Cocoa products sales of PT Bumi Teknokultura Tbk (BTEK) plummets to IDR 88.09 billion in the first half of 2021, massively decreasing by 86.24% due to low export activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the early months of the pandemic last year, the sales could still reach IDR 640,17 billion.

In the Financial Report H1 2021 published today (30/8), BTEK is said to record cacao beans export of IDR 46.60 billion, rapidly declining from IDR 640.17 billion. Fortunately, in the domestic market, cacao beans sales generate IDR 2.46 billion, while tolling brings IDR 38.96 billion to the revenue. In the same period last year, the company did not score any income from the local market.

BTEK’s production ranges from cocoa butter, cocoa solids, and cocoa powder. Last year, their production volumes amounted to 10,701.53 tons, 12,614.28 tons, and 2,609.79 tons, respectively.

The decline in sales affects its gross profit, shrinking from IDR 7.89 billion to an IDR 744 million loss. The loss before tax depletes to IDR 67.84 billion from IDR 145.18 billion, exactly identical to its net loss for the year. (LK/ZH)
