31 August 2021 10:55

JAKARTA - PT Volta Indonesia Semesta (Volta), subsidiary of PT NFC Indonesia Tbk (NFCX), PT M Cash Integrasi Tbk (MCAS) Group, was awarded a contract from PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) (PLN).

In the first phase, PLN will purchase 77 electric three-wheelers from Volta and distribute the EVs as modes of transportation for small medium enterprises (SMEs). The sale of the 77 EVs is expected to complete by end-October 2021.

Volta is one of the front-runners in Indonesia’s EV industry that utilizes the latest green battery technology that allows for a long battery life of up to 4 years.

Volta plans to deploy a network of battery charging and exchange stations across Indonesia known as Sistem Ganti Baterai (SGB). Volta will be able to leverage on MCAS Group’s networks and partnerships (particularly with prominent modern and traditional retailers) to expand its SGB network with greater ease. Currently, the Group already has a vast network of 200k+ stores and outlets at many strategic locations that can double as future SGBs.

In addition, Volta users are also empowered with the Internet of Things (IoT) battery management platform developed by NFCX, MCAS Group. Volta users will have no worries when using the EVs because they can find and access fast recharging/battery swaps facilities at their fingertips.

Concurrently, Volta’s electric motorcycles are already in beta-testing with other private and public entities. These electric motorcycles and the accompanying support facilities are expected to open for mass market access in the late second half of 2021. (LM)
