Multipolar posts IDR371 billion in second quarter net profit

JAKARTA - PT Multipolar Tbk (MLPL) recorded sales of IDR2.8 trillion, up 9.8% compared to the second quarter of 2020 and an increase in gross profit of IDR538 billion, up 6.3% (QoQ). This increase in sales came from MLPL's subsidiary, PT Matahari Putra Prima Tbk (MPPA), which was able to increase sales volume in the second quarter of 2021 in line with MPPA's success in increasing its online business sales.

In the second quarter of 2021, MLPL also recorded an efficiency of 9.7% decrease in operating expenses (QoQ) to IDR477 billion and a decrease in interest expenses (QoQ) by 16.1% to IDR163 billion. The decrease in related Operating Expenses was due to MPPA having made efficiency in redundant operational costs.

MLPL also managed to record a positive performance from associates of IDR128 billion, mainly driven by the growth in performance of PT Matahari Department Store Tbk in the second quarter of 2021. MLPL also recorded an investment income of IDR334 billion in the second quarter of 2021.=

This resulted in MLPL being able to record a net profit of the parent entity in the second quarter of 2021 of IDR371 billion, an increase of 250.0% from the second quarter of 2020 of IDR106 billion. Net profit for the 6-month period in 2021 is IDR104 billion, an increase from a net loss of IDR352 billion recorded the previous year. (LM)
