JAKARTA – The COVID-19 pandemic had taken a toll on PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk’s (SSIA) revenue in H1 2021. In particular, the revenues coming from the construction and hotel business shrink by 42.2% and 52.4%, respectively.

Erlin Budiman, Vice President Head of Investor Relations of Surya Semesta Internusa, claims that the company’s revenue is 40.6% year-on-year (yoy) lower, reaching IDR 871 billion from IDR 1.46 trillion in H1 2020. “The gross profit declines 41.9%, from IDR 248.1 billion to IDR 144.2 billion, while the consolidated loss amounts to IDR 190.8 billion from IDR 122.9 billion reported in 2020,” Budiman claims in a press release, Monday (6/9).

In the first half of 2021, the property segment only generated IDR 152 billion, depleting from IDR 181.4 billion. Furthermore, the construction sector could only bring IDR 654.6 billion from IDR 1.13 trillion, while the hotel business only added IDR 72.6 billion from IDR 152.7 billion last year. Lastly, other segments’ sales dropped to IDR 600 million from IDR 12.8 billion.

The property segment sales come from industrial land sales, building leases managed by PT SLP Surya Ticon Internusa, and Edenhasu Simatupang estate sales in TB Simatupang, South Jakarta. On the other hand, the construction segment includes the income from its subsidiary, PT Nusa Raya Cipta Tbk (NRCA), while hotel business sales are supported by the Gran Melia, Jakarta, and Jumana Bali, Bali.
