JAKARTA – PT Berlian Manyar Sejahtera (BMS), a subsidiary of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA), obtains an infrastructure contract for loading and unloading goods of PT Freeport Indonesia (FI) in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of JIIPE Gresik, East Java.

In the information disclosure, quoted today (6/9), Suresh Vembu, Director of AKR Corporindo, announces that Freeport Indonesia would earn an exclusive right to utilise the infrastructure facility that BMS has built for 40 years. “In the said contract, BMS is said to construct, operate, and maintain the infrastructure. It includes the customised port for FI, trestle, bridges, and seawater intake plants,” Vembu specifies further.

According to Vembu, FI had established a mined mineral smelting facility in JIIPE Gresik, whose operation is scheduled for 2023. AKRA owns 40% of BMS, which manages the activities and provides services within the said SEZ port.

FI is known to rent a lot in SEZ of JIIPE Gresik for 80 years. It could be extended for another six periods, 20 years each. The said area is utilised as the smelter to process various mining ores, including gold and silver, taken from Mimika, Papua. (LK/ZH)
