JAKARTA. PT Adaro Energy Tbk (ADRO) keeps developing non-coal business lines to maintain a stable return and guarantee its longevity.

Mahardika Putranto, Corporate Secretary of ADRO, claims that Adaro Power has the potential to make a contribution to boosting the nation’s electricity and power development. Besides, the power plant business could also minimise the effect of fluctuating coal prices.

ADRO is currently working on Steam Power Plant in Batang, Central Java, with a capacity of 2x1,000 megawatts (MW). This power plant, managed by PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), has made 95.6% progress. BPI is a joint company that belongs to the consortium of Adaro Power, Electric Power Development Co Ltd (J-Power), and Itochu Corporation.

Adaro also owns several power plants, including Makmur Sejahtera Wisesa Steam Power Plant in Tabalong, South Kalimanta. Its capacity reaches 2x30 MW. As of H1 2020, this power plant has an actual availability factor of 91.5%.

According to Putranto, his company is currently handling other business lines, the water treatment sector. Adaro Water continuously tries to secure an operational advantage through consistent improvement. Until recently, PT Adaro Tirta Mandiri (ATM), or Adaro Water, acquires and operates water facilities with a capacity of over 1,670 lpd in various locations. (AM/ZH)
