IDEA to accept 10,000 vocational education admissions

JAKARTA – PT Idea Indonesia Akademi Tbk (IDEA), a tourism vocational education provider, aims to admit 10,000 students per year via hybrid learning, a vocational training programme. President Director of Idea Indonesia Akademi, Eko Desriyanto, announces this objective in a press release during its initial recording in Indonesia Stock Exchange today (9//9).

According to Desriyanto, his company has partnered with several parties, for instance, Archipelago Internasional (AI), to give vocational lessons online and offline. AI is a business group that controls Aston Hotel Groups. “IDEA would become the pioneer in establishing hybrid learning among other vocational education providers in Indonesia,” he claims.

Desriyanto mentions that the potential of vocational education in Indonesia is wide open with 9 million unemployment and 3.7 million vocational high school graduates per year. The employment absorption in the tourism sector is currently at 13 million with a high-quality workforce. Furthermore, vocational education graduates are expected to open other working opportunities in the hospitality, culinary, pastry, bakery, and creative economy sectors.

During its initial public offering (IPO) from September 2 to 7, 2021, IDEA’s shares got oversubscribed 62 times. The company raised IDR 29.74 billion by offering 212,478,500 shares for IDR 140 each. The number of shares covers 20% of the entire issued and paid-up capital. Prior to the IPO, the shareholders of IDEA are PT Idea Asia Investama (69.58%), Ahmad Sadat (30.40%), and Eko Desriyanto (0.02%). (LK/ZH)
