JAKARTA – Throughout the first half of 2021, PT Asuransi Jiwa Sinarmas MSIG Tbk (LIFE) had disbursed insurance claims worth at least IDR 86.40 billion to its users affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a written public expose, quoted today (13/9), Shinichiro Suzuki, Vice President Director of Asuransi Jiwa Sinarmas, reveals that the total insurance claim disposal in H1 2021 amounts to IDR 288 billion. “More than 30% of the said amount is related to COVID-19. It is a testament to our commitment to protect our users,” Suzuki confirms.
According to Suzuki, the COVID-19-related insurance claims tend to increase. On the other hand, other claims unrelated to the pandemic are relatively stable, even showing a slight depletion. He said that the insurance claims started to emerge two or three months after the pandemic surged.
The company predicts its performance will steadily rise until the end of this year, especially when considering how government enhances vaccination programmes, thus resulting in the recent COVID-19 cases decrease. “The company wishes by the end of Q4 2021, the condition would have been improved compared to July and August,” Suzuki prays.
