Matahari Putra Prima faces another loss of IDR 91.5 billion

JAKARTA. PT Matahari Putra Prima Tbk (MPPA), the company that manages Hypermart and Foodmart networks, suffered a loss of IDR 91.5 billion by the end of the first half of 2021.

In a recently released financial report, this loss was a consequence of MPPA’s sales decline by 3.4% year-on-year (yoy) to IDR 3.55 trillion. Moreover, costs of sales in H1 2021 only decreased by 0.85% yoy.

In the same period last year, MPPA reported an even higher loss of IDR 219.25 billion. Thus, it indicated an improvement as MPPA’s loss in the second quarter of the year diminished by 58.23% yoy.

By the end of H1 2021, MPPA reported having cash and cash equivalents of IDR 160.6 billion. However, its total assets deplete by 10.7% from the end of 2020 to IDR 4.03 trillion.

PT Multipolar Tbk (MLPL) is still the controller of MPPA’s shares, owning 38.33% as of June 30, 2021. Anderson Investment Pte Ltd follows closely with 18.31%, while Connery Asia Limited claims another 7.54% and public investors have 35.81%. (KR/ZH)
