JAKARTA. The government prepares a budget of IDR 920.71 billion for the Job Loss Protection (lit. Jaminan Kehilangan Pekerjaan/JKP) program in 2022. This program is envisioned to be a short-term safety net.

Anwar Sanusi, General of the Ministry of Manpower, confirmed that the ministry had received suggestions from BP Jamsostek regarding the dues for JKP to be covered by the government in 2022 of IDR 920.71 billion. “Currently, it is being proposed to the State Budget,” Sanusi added as quoted in Kontan.co.id.

JKP is a new program of the Health Social Security Agency (lit. Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial Ketenagakerjaan/BP Jamsostek), which would be commenced in 2022. It is meant to be a short-term safety net, complementary to the Old Age Protection (lit. Jaminan Hari Tua/JHT) as long-term social protection.

Based on Government Regulation No. 37.2021, the fees for JKP equal 0.46% of the monthly wage. This due would be paid by the government along with other program’s premiums. The government would cover this JKP’s fee of 0.22% of the workers’ monthly income, which is capped at IDR 5 million/month. Meanwhile, other program recompositions include Working Accident Protection (lit. Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja/JKK) of 0.14% and Death Protection (lit. Jaminan Kematian) of 0.1%. (AM/ZH)
