08 October 2021 08:53

JAKARTA – PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) would tend to electricity needs of PT Indonesia Toray Synthetics (ITS), a subsidiary under Toray Group in Japan, of 45.38 mega volt ampere (MVA) for its factory in Tangerang. ITS used to utilise its own 2x15 megawatt (MW) Steam Power Plant.

Yamamoto Hirofusa, President Director of Indonesia Toray Synthetics (ITS), hoped that the electricity supply from PLN could stabilise power during production processes in ITS’s Tangerang factory. “Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, PLN could establish the power supply infrastructure according to the schedule on October 1, 2021,” he stated in the press release, quoted Friday (8/10).

For the record, ITS is a nylon filament yarn, polyester staple fibre, and polyester filament yarn manufacturer. Its products support the clothing production of Uniqlo Co Ltd. It is also worth mentioning that the plant in Tangerang would require 9.9 million kWh in total.

On the other side, Bob Sari, Director of Trading and Customer Management of PLN, believed that utilising PLN power supply could reduce operational costs and provide better electricity quality for ITS. Moreover, ITS could also cut its carbon emission by up to 60 thousand tons of CO2 annually, aligning with Toray Group’s vision. (LK/ZH)
