JAKARTA. The car sales of PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) are back on their positive curve, increasing 16.26% month-on-month (MoM) to 54,328 units in the domestic market in September 2021.

This gain resulted from the sales of almost all brands of cars that ASII could offer. In September 2021, Toyota car sales were reported to grow 13.82% MoM to 43,122 units. Then, Daihatsu car sales increased by 21.66% MoM to 17,529 units, while Isuzu car sales went up by 15.89% MoM to 2,648 units. Lastly, Peugeot cars proliferated 200% MoM in sales to 12 units, contrasting with UD Trucks sales that depleted 68.5% MoM to 17 units.

Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications of ASII, believed that the car sales growth at the wholesale level in September 2021 stemmed from the anticipation of car dealers towards the consumers’ purchase interests, following the extension of the 100% luxury goods tax exemption to year-end.

“Hopefully, the consumers’ interests would keep increasing, thus boosting the national economic growth,” Soebroto added.

For further details, 13,499 units of cars sold in September 2021 are Low-Cost Green Cars (LCGC). The LCGC car sales were also 10.72% higher than the previous month’s record.

Throughout last September, ASII’s market share remained stable at 65%. Additionally, its market share for LCGC cars was on the top, reaching 97%. (KR/ZH)
