JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry continues to encourage the Small and Medium Industry (SMI) sector to utilize digital technology in the context of implementing the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap. This step is realized through the implementation of Go Digital SMI Training activities in the series of Solo Great Sale events in 2021.

"Currently the use of the internet has dominated all public activities, one of which is in the sale and purchase of goods, coupled with the pandemic that has caused changes in people's consumption behavior in meeting their needs, thus providing many advantages for buyers and sellers because it can facilitate the process of buying and selling products," said the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Thursday (14/10).

Referring to Bank Indonesia data, in the second quarter of 2021, the value of transactions in e-commerce during the first semester of 2021 reached IDR186.75 trillion or grew by 63.36% compared to the same period last year.

Along with this, the Ministry of Industry through the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Various Industries (IKMA) encourages IKM players to enter e-commerce through the IKM e-smart program. The e-Smart IKM program has been started since 2017, and in 2020 its implementation will become part of the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement. (LM)
