JAKARTA – PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) and P Hutchison 3 Indonesia (H3I) are urged to have additional 11.400 sites of telecommunication towers to 52,885 sites by 2025 as a requirement for their merger.

Billy Nikolas Simanjuntak, Corporate Secretary of Indosat, confirmed that the company had received in-principle approval regarding the company merger plan last week (5/11). “Some of other terms and conditions include returning 2x5 MHz to the 2.1 GHz radio frequency band, at least within a year after the radio frequency band post-merger was finalised,” he further revealed in the information disclosure, quoted Wednesday (10/11).

According to Simanjuntak, his company is reviewing the in-principle approval from the government and would sign the statement letter regarding its readiness to comply with the defined terms.

The terms set by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics include expanding the cellular coverage area by 7,660 villages by 2025, reaching 59,538 villages. It also asks ISAT and H3I to raise download and upload throughput by at least 12.5% and 8% by 2025. (LK/ZH)
