JAKARTA – PT Unggul Indah Cahaya Tbk (UNIC), a chemical manufacturer, would expand its Paraffin Convert to Olefin (PACOL) unit in 2022 after the delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year. President Director of UNIC, Yani Alifen, announced this plan through a public expose, quoted Tuesday (23/11).

“This expansion plan was postponed. This project is expected to proceed next year,” Alifen confirmed.

According to Alifen, the allocated capital expenditure this year would be redirected to the 2022 capital expenditure budget. Until this day, the realised capital expenditure has reached USD 250,000.

Currently, UNIC’s production capacity amounts to 270,000 metric tons (MT) per year. It is the accumulation of Linear Alkylbenzene (LAB) and Branched Alkylbenzene (BAB) production capacities. By establishing the PACOL II, the production capacity for LAB would increase by 120,000 MT per year. “At the moment, we are selecting the contractor and tender,” Alifen revealed.

As known, UNIC manages three Alkylbenzene plants in one area, equipped with licensed technology from UOP LLC of the USA. The sales until Q3 2021 were reported to reach USD 275.23 million, USD 34.93 million higher than USD 240.30 million reported in the same quarter last year. (LK/ZH)
