TAKALAR - In addition to building large-scale infrastructure such as dams and the A.P Pettarani Elevated Toll Road, in South Sulawesi Province, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is also building community infrastructure, one of which is a suspension bridge. The benefit of the suspension bridge is directly felt by the community as an access link between villages and has the potential to drive the local economy, among others, as a tourist attraction.

Of the 3 suspension bridges built in 2021, one bridge was completed last September, namely the Makammu II Suspension Bridge located in Bulukunyi Village, Takalar Regency. This bridge was built 60 meters long to connect Monconngkomba Village with Su'rulangi Village and Bulukunyi Village in South Polombangkeng District.

The Makammu II Suspension Bridge stretches over the Bulukunyi River with a length of 60 meters, a rigid type equipped with an approach road of 365 meters long and 4.5 meters wide. The structure of the bridge is a steel suspension bridge, where its strength relies on sling hangers as reinforcement on the floor. The Makammu II Suspension Bridge was built using a FY 2021 budget of IDR 3.16 billion. (LM)
