JAKARTA. The total raised funds in the capital market until December 7, 2021, had arrived at IDR 335.8 trillion, gathered from public offerings of 180 different companies. This amount is nearly double the 2020 record of IDR 118.7 trillion.

Wimboh Santoso, Head of Board of Commissioner of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), announced the number during the work meeting with the Commission XI of DPR RI earlier today (9/12). “Additionally, there are 11 more public offerings worth IDR 13.99 trillion in immediate processes by the end of the year.”

According to Santoso, the surge in retail investors, dominated by those younger than 30 years old or millennials, has supported this milestone. OJK data showed that until November 2021, the number of investors in the capital market had reached 7.2 million people, 59.81% of which were millennial retail investors. It increased from the December 2020 position of 54.9%.

Santoso also saw this enthusiasm and optimism regarding the raised funds in the capital market was indicative of a recovering economic condition, supported by the solid fundamentals. “OJK keeps trying to increase the supply base, for example, accomodating potential issuers from the new economy startup scene to launch their initial public offerings (IPO),” he claimed.
