16 December 2021 13:45

JAKARTA. PT MNC Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN) would end linear broadcasting rights of GTV in third-party streaming platforms, effective December 15, 2021. It is intended to reaffirm broadcasting exclusivity in streaming platforms under MNC Group.

Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Executive Chairman of MNC Group, explained that this strategy is implemented to strengthen MNC’s position in the market. “Equipped with many of our highly popular contents, we focus on making them exclusive in our platform, thus increasing the number of our viewers rapidly,” he added in the official release.

The closing of broadcasting rights in the third-party streaming platforms was also previously applied to RCTI, MNC Group’s most-watched free-to-air (FTA) channel. In the future, shows in RCTI and GTV would only be exclusively aired on over-the-top (OTT) platforms of MNC Group, RCTI+ and Vision+.

However, MNC Group would still air MNCTV and iNews on these third-party platforms.

According to idnfinancials.com, MNCN recorded revenue of IDR 7.07 trillion by the end of September (9M) 2021. It grew 18.62% year-on-year (yoy), allowing MNCN to score IDR 1.65 trillion in net profit. (KR/ZH)
