JAKARTA - In the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk (UNSP) was able to adapt well and as in the financial report 30 September 2021 managed to record a +66% increase in sales to IDR 2.88 trillion, a +171% increase in gross profit to IDR 654 billion, +543% increase in operating profit to IDR 310 billion, and +443% increase in EBITDA to IDR 475 billion in Q3 2021 compared to Q3 2020.

"The company continues to work hard to increase the productivity of plantation assets, including: by rejuvenation using superior seeds, amid rising commodity prices world CPO (Crude Palm Oil) from an average monthly level of USD 660 per tonne CIF Rotterdam in 9M-2020 to a monthly average of USD 1130 in 9M-2021. Optimization of mill productivity is also carried out by purchasing palm fruit from farmers who do not own a factory while helping their welfare,” said the Director & Investors Relations UNSP, Andi W. Setianto.

Currently, the national palm oil productivity is only about 3 tons of CPO per hectare per year, where with superior seeds the productivity potential can increase after the replanting program. The productivity of the Company's superior seeds can produce 10 tons of CPO per hectare per year, with a production of 40 tons of palm fruit per hectare per year and 25% CPO extraction, according to the results of the Company's certified superior seeds field. With superior seeds, the area of the plantation does not need to be increased, resulting in doubled CPO production which further increases biodiesel production for national energy security.

The Company sees high-quality seeds and smallholder palm oil rejuvenation programs as the key to farmers' welfare and sustainable palm oil productivity. (LM)
