Honda China to build dedicated factory for electric vehicle production

BEIJING - Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. As a Honda subsidiary in China, it has just announced that Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., will build a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) production factory to build adequate systems and production capabilities in preparation for expanding its EV lineup in the future.

The new dedicated EV factory will be built in the Wuhan Economic Development Zone in Hubei Province, China, with a lot size of 630,000 m2, and a basic annual production capacity of 120,000 units. Honda also aims to start production at this plant in 2024.

The factory will be designed as a factory with efficient and intelligent functions capable of producing EVs from start to finish. The new factory will carry out the complete process for producing EVs including stamping, welding, painting, assembly and complete vehicle inspection. The factory will also strive to achieve a leading level of automation in the automotive industry, especially in the assembly area.

In addition, the factory will proactively pursue sustainability initiatives, which will include the utilization of renewable energy sources such as solar power towards the realization of carbon neutrality, the use of recycled water and other resource conservation measures as well as the reduction of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions. major air pollution.
