JAKARTA – PT Central Omega Resources Tbk (DKFT) purchased land of 25.3 hectares (Ha) in North Morowali, Central Sulawesi, to widen the ferronickel processing and refining facility (smelter). The said facility is targeted to reach a production capacity of 300,000 tons a year.

In the information disclosure quoted Tuesday (11/1), Feni Silviani Budiman, Director of Central Omega Resources, stated that the land was purchased from Sencaka, a Commissioner of PT COR Industri Indonesia (CORII), for IDR 5.13 billion. “The land is located in Ganda-ganda Village, Petasia, North Morowali,” she further revealed.

DKFT has some portions in CORII, both directly and indirectly, of 60% of CORII’s issued shares, equal to 391,776 shares.

According to Budiman, the said area was acquired in relation to the company’s objective to build a second-stage nickel smelting facility and other supporting facilities. In 2017, CORII completed a first-stage smelting facility with a capacity of 100,000 tons per year.

In the long term, the company envisioned constructing a smelting facility and its support over a land of 472 Ha. However, the company currently only has 259-Ha land, prompting it to acquire more land to establish another stage smelting facility. (LK/ZH)
