PIS explores cooperation opportunities with Japan

14 January 2022 10:36

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) is increasingly seeking opportunities for cooperation with global companies, one of which is strategic cooperation with Japanese companies.

Strategic cooperation or strategic partnership is a series of unlock value programs to develop the PIS business as Pertamina's integrated marine and logistics subholding. PIS has a target to become the leading Asian integrated marine logistics company and earn revenues of around US$ 4 billion in 2030.

In seeking strategic partners, PIS coordinates and synergizes with relevant stakeholders. One of them is with the Indonesian Embassy to Japan, with the ambassador Heri Akhmadi.

Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi said that the cooperation between Japan and Indonesia is still quite wide open, one of which is in the energy transition sector, energy logistics and petrochemicals. Heri emphasized that the energy logistics business could be designed in the long term to benefit both parties.

Pertamina International Shipping CEO Erry Widiastono explained that the company's strategic partnership plan with Japan was carefully prepared, with the target being met this year.

“By involving embassies and the government, of course, it can show the seriousness of PIS in cooperation. This unlock value is not only to increase the company's revenue but also to diversify the business. Among them are diversification towards being environmentally friendly, green business and green shipping are also included in it." (LM)
