BI: New credit growth indicated increase in Q4 2021

JAKARTA - The Bank Indonesia Banking Survey indicated that on a quarterly basis (qtq) new credit growth in the fourth quarter of 2021 increased compared to the previous period.

This was reflected in the weighted net balance (WNB) of new loan requests of 87.0%, higher than the WNB of 20.9% in the previous quarter. The growth in new lending is indicated for all types of usage, as reflected in the positive SBT value. In the first quarter of 2022, new credit growth is predicted to slow, as indicated by the WNB forecast for new loan disbursement at 52.0%.

Credit disbursement standards in the first quarter of 2022 are predicted to be slightly tighter than the previous period. This is indicated by the Lending Standard Index (ILS) of 3.4%, higher than 2.6% in the previous quarter.

The survey results show that respondents remain optimistic about future credit growth. Respondents predict credit growth in 2022 at 8.7% or an increase compared to growth in 2021 at 5.2%. (LM)
