JAKARTA. PT Pertamina (Persero) aims for 10 thousand units of Pertashops to operate in 2022 to ensure the even distribution of fuels to rural areas.

Erick Thohir, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), claimed that the said target would significantly affect energy sustainability and workforce employment in remote areas. “These 10,000 Pertashops will offer work opportunities and are further expected to increase people’s economic condition. In the future, we also prioritise reaching out to local business owners to attain the target,” Thohir explained in an official release.

For the record, Pertashop is a small-scale sale outlet of Pertamina, designed to serve fuel needs and other retail products. These outlets will be introduced to rural areas and other areas with no gas stations (lit. Stasiun Pengisian Bahan Bakar Umum/SPBU).

Since its launch in 2020, 4,311 Pertashops have been established all across Indonesia. Pertamina’s strategic partners manage the operation of 249 units, while 54 other ones are run by Village-Owned Enterprises (lit. Badan Usaha Milik Desa/BUMDes).

Currently, Pertamina offers cooperation schemes for Pertashop management in three tiers. The first level, Gold, is offered to strategic partners with an initial capital of IDR 250 million. The second tier is called Platinum, which is aimed towards partners with an initial capital of IDR 400 million. Meanwhile, the last one is Diamond. It is intended for partners with an initial capital of IDR 500 million. (KR/ZH)
