Credit distribution solidified, BBTN’s net profit soared 48.3%

JAKARTA. The credit distribution growth of 5.66% skyrocketed the net profit of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN) by 48.3% to IDR 2.37 trillion.

Haru Koesmahargyo, President Director of BTN, said that in 2021, the bank channelled out credits of IDR 274.83 trillion in total, 5.66% higher than the same period last year. The apparent increase resulted from the housing sector that maintained its performance while facing the economic crises due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the depleted consumers’ purchasing power.

Koesmahargyo further admitted that incentives granted by the government had managed to keep the consumers’ purchasing power afloat, thus sustaining the housing credit demands. “We are optimistic that as the economy recovers and the pandemic passes by, the housing ownership credit (KPR) demands may improve even higher,” he said during the virtual 2021 Financial Performance Report of BTN earlier today (8/2).

The subsidised KPR was still the primary pillar supporting BTN credit growth of 8.25% year-on-year (yoy) to IDR 130.68 trillion in 2021. In 2020, it only scored a realisation of IDR 120.72 trillion. Furthermore, non-subsidised KPR demands also increased 4.14% yoy to IDR 83.25 trillion. (AM/ZH)
