Plasticpay actively reduces plastic waste by collecting HDPE type

09 February 2022 17:14

JAKARTA - PT Plasticpay Teknologi Daurulang, a digital-based social behavioral change platform which is also a subsidiary of PT Inocycle Technology Group Tbk (INOV), is expanding its services by facilitating the exchange of used High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bottle waste through all Dropbox Plasticpay units. Examples of used HDPE bottles that can be exchanged through Plasticpay, include used shampoo bottles, soap bottles, skincare, lotions and others. This effort is in line with the current increasing public demand for recycled HDPE products, so it is a good opportunity for Plasticpay to expand services to collect more plastic waste, no longer limited to Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles.

Suhendra Setiadi, CEO of Plasticpay said, “Plastic waste is still Indonesia's biggest problem, and it is our responsibility to tackle it together. For this reason, we have developed Plasticpay technology in collaboration with our partners to turn HDPE plastic waste into trendy and useful products for everyday life. Not much different from PET plastic, HDPE plastic bottle waste also has high economic value because it can be transformed into various kinds of environmentally friendly products, such as containers, packaging, pipes, and construction materials that are long-asting and durable.”

Furthermore, Suhendra explained, the system for exchanging used skincare bottles of HDPE type on Plasticpay, is similar to exchanging PET waste. Users would only need to download and register with the Plasticpay application. The skincare bottle is then put into the bag with the given User ID, then deposited into the Plasticpay Dropbox. Next, the Plasticpay team will take, and calculate the number of skincare bottles entered to be exchanged for points. Plasticpay Points will be received automatically by users through their respective applications.

It’s worth noting that Plasticpay Dropbox is currently distributed across various cities in Indonesia, such as Jabodetabek, Tangerang, and Bekasi. As of the end of 2021, the number of Plasticpay Dropbox has reached 238 points, and it is expected that by 2022 this number can increase to 800 units. This is in line with Plasticpay's efforts in accelerating the implementation of a circular economy in Indonesia, as well as helping companies realize sustainable CSR programs, and fulfill ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) aspects.
