Gov’t readies incentives to bring tourism back alive

10 February 2022 14:20

JAKARTA – The government reportedly laid out policies and incentives to promote the tourism sector this year. For instance, it drew out incentives of IDR 3.39 trillion in order to prepare for G-20 Summit and established the Mandalika International Circuit.

Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for the Economic Affars, said that the endeavour to attain the national economic recovery amidst the COVID-19 pandemic would continue to take effect, including the tourism sector. “The government designed several policies and programs, including incentive distribution,” he confirmed during the National Working Meeting II of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurants Association, quoted today (10/2).

Other strategies implemented by the government include establishing bilateral and regional travel bubbles. In January 2022, for instance, the travel bubble policy encompassing Batam-Bintan-Singapore was introduced to accelerate the tourism sector recovery in Batam and Bintan.

According to Hartarto, the attempts to drive the tourism sector alive are also applied alongside health protocol enforcement in all destinations, promoting standard cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability (CHSE). “I believe we may nurture back the economy back to health with an effective collaboration,” he claimed.
