Aneka Tambang signed the electric supply agreement with PLN

JAKARTA. PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) recently signed Head of Agreement (HoA) with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) regarding the electric supply in Haltim Ferronickel Smelter, North Maluku.

In the said contract, PLN promised to supply the required power for the smelting facility of ANTM as much as 75 megawatts (MW). This electric power will be continuously channelled for the next three years.

“We believe that with the positive synergy between Antam and PLN, the acceleration of mineral downstreaming process, particularly the nickel, can be initiated shortly,” Nicolas Kanter, President Director of ANTM, said in the official release.

The cooperation in providing power for the Haltim Ferronickel Smelter will undergo two stages. The first stage of the electric power supply will take place for six months, while the second phase will last for 12 months.

For the record, the Haltim Ferronickel Smelter has a processing capacity of 13,500 tons of nickel in ferronickel (TNi). As of December 2021, the construction of the Haltim Ferronickel Smelter had reached 98%. Thus, after the construction is concluded, its annual capacity will increase to 40,500 TNi. (KR/ZH)
