Medical oxygen demands keep increasing, SBMA boosts its production capacity

JAKARTA. PT Surya Biru Murni Acetylene Tbk (SBMA) will establish a new production plant to increase medical oxygen and industrial gas production capacity from 2 million litres per year to 10 million litres per year.

Iwan Sanyoto, Operational Director of SBMA, said that the new production facility is intended to fulfil the ever-increasing needs. The company will try to optimise its services, particularly in supplying medical oxygen to hospitals and COVID-19 referential institutions. The higher demands for medical oxygen from hospitals have allowed the revenue to soar, contributing 10% to the total revenue.

According to Sanyoto, the popular demand for medical oxygen is also detected in Kalimantan. Orders are coming up and increasing from several hospitals, particularly from Tanjung, Balikpapan, Samarinda, Bontang, Berau, Nunukan, and Tarakan.

SBMA does not only answer to medical oxygen demands from hospitals but also from the public by supplying oxygen refills for oxygen cylinders. “The system is similar to gas fill in gas stations,” Sanyoto further explained, as quoted in Kontan. (AM/ZH)
