PLN speeds up the IDR 372 billion GITET project in NAD

JAKARTA – PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) aims to wrap up the Extra High Voltage Substation (lit. Gardu Induk Tegangan Ekstra Tinggi/GITET) construction project worth IDR 372 billion in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) by the first half of the year. The transmission construction in this project has reportedly reached 93.45%.

Octavianus Duha, General Manager of Northern Sumatra Unit of PLN, said that the construction process of GITET has entered the last stage of inspection, equivalent to 93.45% done. “It is now gearing up towards the energising stage for when the GITET is ready to operate,” he added in the press release quoted Tuesday (8/3).

The establishment of GITET and SUTET (lit. Extra High Voltage Power Lines) of 275 KV of Sigli-Ulee Kareng (2x450 mN2), spanning 179 km long, includes 240 towers. Up until now, the cable has been stretched over 202 towers.

According to Duha, PLN is confident that this project will be completed timely despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “We still pay attention to health protocols and the implementation of occupational health and safety measures in every aspect of the task,” he reaffirmed. (LK/ZH)
