Patimban – The government continues to spur the performance of the Patimban Port so that it can serve more vehicle transportation, both for export and domestic use. The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, accompanied by the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, inspected the ongoing vehicle export activities at Patimban Port on Tuesday (8/3).

Yesterday (8/3) at the Patimban Port, the export of vehicles to the Philippines was carried out using the Trans Harmony 2 Panama.

President Jokowi expressed optimism that vehicle export activities through the Patimban Port Car Terminal will continue to increase in the future. "Previously, it was planned that this year we could export approximately 160,000 vehicles per year. But looking at the progress in these 3 (three) months, it could increase to 180 thousand vehicles per year," said the President.

Jokowi said that he would continue to add to the country's export destinations for vehicles from the Patimban Port. “Exports to the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Japan and Vietnam are a start. Later it will be developed to other countries, so that in one month it is targeted to export 15 thousand vehicles from Patimban Port. This means that our industry continues to move even in the midst of a pandemic," he said.

The Minister of Transportation said that by 2027, Patimban Port is targeted to have the same capacity as Priok, namely a capacity of around 7.5 million TEUs of containers and 600 thousand vehicles per year. (LM)
