JAKARTA. Cars sold to the dealers by PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) in Feburary 2022 reportedly reached 34,023 units, increasing 62.3% year-on-year (yoy) or compared to the achievement made in February 2021.
“Car sales of Astra in February 2022 experienced a surge compared to the same period in 2021,” Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications of ASII, confirmed.
Approximately 57.96% of car sales, equal to 24,936 units, are Toyota and Lexus cars. Daihatsu cars follow with 15,306 units sold, beating Isuzu of 2,800 units, UD Trucks of 219 units, and Peugeot of 32 units.
Out of all sold cars of ASII in February 2022, 8,806 of them are low-cost green cars (LCGC). This month, Astra’s market share in the LCGC car sector arrived at 68%, while its market share in the domestic market hit 53%.
Having said those, ASII’s car sales in February 2022 shrank 2.9% month-on-month (MoM) or compared to the numbers reported in January 2022, which reportedly amounted to 44,308 units.
“We are still positive that this year’s sales can proliferate, accompanied by the expectation of increased power purchase, which is supported by the economic recovery and the extension of luxury goods tax (PPnBM) incentive policy,” Soebroto further added. (KR/ZH)
