Import grew 25.43% in February 2022

JAKARTA – Indonesia Statistics (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) reported that import value in February 2022 had reached USD 16.64 billion. It slid off 8.64% from USD 18.21 billion in January 2022. However, it grew 25.43% from USD 13.26 billion recorded in February 2021.

In the press release of BPS quoted Wednesday (16/3), import in February 2022 comprised non-oil and gas of USD 13.74 billion, decreasing 14.05% from USD 15.98 billion in January 2022. In addition, oil and gas import took up USD 2.90 billion, climbing from USD 2.23 billion in January 2022.

Goods-wise, import of raw and auxiliary metarials increased 29.98% from February 2021 to February 2022, as did capital goods import of 20.98% year-on-year (yoy). In contrast, consumption goods import shrank 3.06%. However, compared to numbers in January 2022, those three experienced a downturn. Consumption goods import decreased 23.85%, raw/auxiliary materials 7.22%, and capital goods import 7.03%.

On the other hand, export in February 2022 generated USD 20.46 billion, shifting 6.73% from January 2022 of USD 19.17 billion and 34.14% from USD 15.26 billion in February 2021. In February 2022, non-oil and gas export amounted to USD 19.47 billion, while oil and gas export reached USD 0.99 billion. (LK/ZH)
