21 March 2022 06:18

JAKARTA – PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) purchased electric power supply from PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to run the Haltim ferronickel smelting facility in North Maluku. This sale and purchase agreement was signed yesterday (14/3) and will take effect for 30 years since the facility is officially operated.

Nico Kanter, President Director of ANTM, claimed that this sale and purchase agreement is an extension of the previous head of agreement regarding the electric power supply for the Haltim ferronickel smelting plant, signed on February 10, 2022. “The said contract is linked to the speedy completion of the Haltim ferronickel smelter construction. The synergy with PLN will run efficiently and optimally to meet the operational target of the smelter,” he explained in the press release quoted Monday (21/3).

According to Kanter, the construction of the said nickel ore smelting plant had reached 98.18% in December 2021. This facility has a capacity of 13,500 tons of nickels in ferronickels (TNi). Next, the installed production capacity of ANTM will rise to 40,500 TNi. (LK/ZH)
