Ministry of PUPR and South Korea discuss cooperation in infrastructure

JAKARTA - The Ministry of PUPR and the South Korean Government Hold Discussions on Increasing Cooperation in the Infrastructure Sector Jakarta - The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) discusses increasing cooperation in the infrastructure sector with the South Korean Government represented by the Deputy Minister for Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) Yun Seong-won at the PUPR Ministry Building last week.

There are three agendas in this activity including discussions on the construction of the Batam-Bintan Bridge, the formation of a basic plan and feasibility study (FS) for housing for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the State Capital (IKN) and discussions on the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Korean technical assistance. Deputy Minister of PUPR John Wempi Wetipo said the discussion on infrastructure cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of South Korea could be a joint commitment to sharing knowledge, especially in the field of bridges and IKN development.

The Batam-Bintan Bridge is a long-span bridge project with cable stayed technology and will later become a toll road. The total length of the bridge and toll road is 14.74 km. The project funding plan consists of two schemes, namely government support through loans and Government Cooperation with Business Entities (KPBU) with the Minimum Revenue Guarantee (MRG) model. Deputy Minister Wempi said the status of the Batam-Bintan Bridge was currently in the stage of feasibility studies, land acquisition, environmental permits, preparation of tender documents and submission of readiness criteria to the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT). The target for completion of the work is March 2022. (LM)
