Watsons to expand online

JAKARTA – PT Duta Intidaya Tbk (DAYA), the managing company of pharmaceutical retailer Watsons, eyes the prospect of a digital platform (online sales) as its future main driving force behind product marketing. This plan of business unt expansion will be further discussed during the Extraordinary General Shareholders Meeting on May 13, 2022.

Mohammad Asy’ari, Director of Duta Intidaya, claimed that the COVID-19 pandemic had altered consumers’ purchasing pattern from offline-based to online-based purchases. “The company acknowledges this change and utilise it to boost future performance. The company feels optimistic about taking advantage of present business prospects in order to create additional value for shareholders,” he explained in the information disclosure quoted Thursday (7/4).

The gross profit is estimated to increase 16.2% by using a digital platform to offer its pharmaceutical products, which have only been marketed in offline Watsons outlets. In order to support the expansion plan, the company has conducted research and business feasibility study, which observe the market feasibility, technical aspects, the business pattern, the management model, and financial aspects.

Watsons currently reports having an issued and paid-up capital of IDR 242.05 billion. Total Alliance Holdings controls 73.87%, followed by PT Indah Sehat Cemerlang of 17.43%, PT Usaha Indah Abadi of 1.03%, and the public of 7.67%. (LK/ZH)
