JAKARTA – At least 11 companies declare their commitments in carrying out the coal downstreaming project in order to support net-zero emission initiative by 2030. Lana Saria, Director of the Coal Development and Business of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, announced the news during a discussion titled “Coal Gasification Economy” in Jakarta today (7/4).

The companies that state their commitments are PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), PT Kaltim Prima Coal (PKC), PT Arutmin Indonesia, PT Kendilo Coal Indonesia (KCI), PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), PT Adaro Indonesia (AI), PT Kideco Jaya Agung (KJA), PT Berau Coal (BC), PT Megah Energi Khatulistiwa (MEK), PT Thriveni, PT Mandiri Inti Perkasa, and PT Borneo Indobara. The latter two will even take on the coal downstreaming project until 2045.

Saria mentioned that the development and utilisation of coals through gasification will generate methanol, dimethyl ether, syngas, ammonia, hydrogen, and olefin. The technology used in the coal downstreaming will increase the value as it turns coals into more environmentally friendly. (LK/ZH)
