JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry continues to strive to increase productivity, efficiency and product quality in the textile and textile products (TPT) industry. One of the efforts is to facilitate the textile industry to utilize modern technology through a program to restructure production machinery and equipment.

“Last year, this restructuring program was utilized by eight companies. This year, we are rolling it out again so that our textile industry can be more productive and globally competitive,” said Plt. Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industry (IKFT) Ignatius Warsito in Bandung, Thursday (7/4).

The machine and equipment restructuring program in 2022 also encourages the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, augmented reality/virtual reality, advanced robotics, 3D printing and/or machine to machine communication.

"This program is implemented by providing a 10% discount or reimbursement of the total investment in machinery and equipment originating from imports, or 25% for domestically produced machines and equipment," he said. The available budget allocation in 2022 is IDR 8.5 billion with a target of at least 18 companies participating.

Warsito conveyed that the implementation of the machinery and equipment restructuring program was a form of stimulus and a concrete manifestation of the government in order to boost the performance of the textile industry in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as an effort to accelerate national economic recovery.
