Planning to fund sustainable businesses, BNI to issue green bonds of IDR 5 trillion

JAKARTA. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) will issue green bonds capped to IDR 5 trillion to fund projects categorised as sustainable business activities (lit. Kegiatan Usaha Berwawasan Lingkungan/KUBL).

Based on the issued prospectus released by BNI yesterday (10/5), the green bonds will be offered with different tenors. Series A’s is three years, maturing on June 21, 2025, Series B’s is five years, which will mature in 2027, while Series C bonds will mature in seven years, in June 2029. BBNI has yet to determine the interest rates for each series and tenors of the said Green Bonds I of BNI.

The preliminary offering will take place from May 11 to May 25, 2022, preceding the main event on June 14-16, 2022. Then, the allotment date is set to June 7, 2022, and the issuance will be concluded with a recording on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on June 21-22, 2022.

The sustainable business projects in question include energy efficiency, waste-to-energy treatment and management, as well as natural resources manufacturing process and sustainable land management. Then, it also encompasses land and water biodiversity conservation, environmentally-friendly transportation, sustainable water and wastewater management, climate change adaptation, green building, and sustainable agriculture.

The underwriters responsible for this issuance are PT BNI Sekuritas, PT BCA Sekuritas, PT BRI Danareksa Sekuritas, PT CIMB Niaga Sekuritas, PT Mandiri Sekuritas, and PT Maybank Sekuritas Indonesia. (AM/ZH)
