Expanding, Emdeki Utama to install two new businesses

JAKARTA. PT Emdeki Utama Tbk (MDKI) will establish two new businesses involved in mortar and precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) production in order to extend its market scope.

Vincent Secapramana, Director of MDKI, claimed that the mortar business has yet to be included in the articles of association of the company. On the other hand, the PCC production has been featured in the company’s articles of association. However, the business has yet to be started as it has not obtained the needed approval from the General Shareholders Meeting.

The company is about to asking for approval from its shareholders on the meeting scheduled for June 20, 2022. The decision will be publicly disclosed on June 22, 2022.

In the official announcement, Secapramana claimed to be optimistic regarding this mortar business as the market shows high interest in it. Moreover, mortar is deemed better than conventional cement. “Therefore, by producing mortar, the company will also optimise the factory utilisation,” he further explained.

Meanwhile, regarding the PCC business, Secapramana believed that PCC is getting more popular in demand as it is needed as raw materials in various industries. They include food, paint, and plastic manufacturing. “With its distinctive characteristic, the utilisation of PCC gains more market potential in the ever-growing industry,” he said.

The total investment required by MDKI to branch out to mortar production is IDR 3.22 billion, while PCC production plan calls for an investment worth IDR 2.64 billion in total. (KR/ZH)
