Indonesia strengthens infrastructure cooperation with South Korea

JAKARTA - In the framework of the 17th Indonesia-Korea Road Conference, Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono received a visit from a delegation from South Korea led by Assistant Minister for Road, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, South Korea Lee Yoon-Sang at the PUPR Ministry Office, Jakarta, Monday (20/6/2022).

The Indonesia-Korea Road Conference is a bilateral technical cooperation between the Ministry of PUPR of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Construction and Transportation of South Korea which has been held since 2003 until now. The 17th Indonesia-Korea Road Conference will be held on 20-23 June 2022 with the theme “Smart City for IKN”.

Minister Basuki said there are two grant collaborations between Indonesia and South Korea that are currently underway, namely Integrated Management for the Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS) for national bridges in Indonesia and the preparation of Master Plan and Pilot System Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for the Metropolitan Jakarta Area.

“In July we will send 25 young PUPR engineers to South Korea to undergo training related to smart cities. In addition, there are 14 young engineers who will also go to South Korea to learn about bridge SHMS. This is a more concrete form of cooperation apart from the discussions we hold at seminars or conferences," said Minister Basuki.

In addition, there are also three grants currently in the pipeline process, namely FS and Basic Design Immersed Tunnel Teluk Balikpapan (IKN Access Toll Road), the establishment of Digital and Green Construction Management in Indonesia, and the establishment of a Toll Road Information System in Indonesia.
