Indonesia and Japan discuss accelerating completion of transportation projects

JAPAN - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Tuesday (21/6), arrived in Japan to hold a meeting with a number of Japanese government officials (G to G) and private parties (G to B), in order to accelerate the work and completion of a number of transportation projects in Indonesia. Upon arrival in Japan, the Minister of Transportation was greeted by the Indonesian Ambassador to Tokyo, Heri Akhmadi.

The three infrastructure development projects that are the focus of the discussion are: the North-South and East-West MRT projects, the Patimban Port Phase 1-2 (Packages 5 and 6), and the construction of the Proving Ground.

The Minister of Transportation said that Indonesia and Japan have good relations. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have lasted for more than 60 years. "The two countries agreed to continue to increase cooperation in various sectors, including transportation," said the Minister of Transportation.

Investments in collaboration with foreign parties such as Japan are expected not only to accelerate the physical development process, but also to have a multiplier effect, namely: improving the quality of national human resources through technology transfer, creating wide employment opportunities, and realizing peace and stability in the regional and global regions.

On Wednesday (22/6), the Minister of Transportation is scheduled to have a meeting with the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Mr. Yamanaka Shinichi, former Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Fukuda, and President & CEO of Toyota Tsusho Corporation Mr. Kashitani. (LM)
