Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources discuss energy and manufacturing issues

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) sit together to discuss strategic issues related to the energy situation that affects the condition of the manufacturing industry. The meeting aims to build a good synergy between the industrial sector and ESDM.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif along with the ranks of the two ministries held a Joint Working Meeting in Ciawi, Bogor, Monday (4/7). The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said that this meeting was a follow-up to the talks between the two Ministers to synchronize the work programs of the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, because the relationship between the energy sector and industry is one channel.

"This meeting between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Industry discussed strategic issues as a result of our communication so that the work programs between the two ministries can be synchronized, so that they can have a big impact on the country's development," said Arifin.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources conveyed energy issues that need support from the Ministry of Industry, including the implementation of energy efficiency, controlling the consumption of BBM and LPG PSO, accelerating the development of EBT, accelerating the downstream mineral and coal industry, applying SNI standards for lubricants, utilizing gas for industry, and evaluation of the implementation of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).

 In line with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Minister of Industry said that this meeting was an initiative of the two ministries, and as far as is known, there has never been a joint working meeting between the two ministries, especially those under different coordinating ministries.

The Minister of Industry assessed that the points submitted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources were of common interest which was also the focus of the Ministry of Industry. For example, regarding the issue of SNI lubricants and TKDN, especially solar panels, the Ministry of Industry is very open regarding the improvements that need to be made to these issues. "This discussion will be continued at the relevant official level. One of the agreements from the joint working meeting is to form a working group so that there is sustainability of the discussion," he explained. (LM)
