DPR: Oil fuel distribution must consider geographical factors

07 July 2022 13:01

JAKARTA – The People's Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR-RI) asked PT Pertamina to pay attention to the geographical factor and society’s cultural differences in distributing subsidised oil fuel. Deddy Sitorus, a member of Commission VI of DPR RI, suggested said idea during the hearing meeting with Working Committee of State-Owned Energy Enterprises and Pertamina yesterday (6/7).

According to Sitorus, distributing the subsidised oil fuel with one-system-for-all scheme would not be applicable as the geographical condition differs greatly from one location to another. “It is to prevent confusion within the community due to application utilisation as they may not be able to be implemented widely,” he added.

Sitorus claimed that the subsidised oil fuel will be impossible to get in rural or mining areas if referring to the cubical centimetre (CC) of the vehicles, even when the residents of those areas are in dire need of subsidised oil fuel. “There needs to be a way to blend the subsidised oil fuel distribution,” Sitorus reiterated.
