JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono reviewed the renovation of facilities and infrastructure in the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) area in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/7/2022). Minister Basuki said the main purpose of the renovation was to improve TMII's services as a community tourist destination since the 1970s.

Minister Basuki said that one of the improvements being made is the arrangement of the landscape of the islands in Lake Archipelago. "We are also repairing the provincial platforms, which were previously compartmentalized with iron-concrete fences, now they are integrated without barriers between platforms with good green landscaping," he said

In addition to improving tourism services, Minister Basuki revealed that the renovation of TMII is also for the preparation of the Indonesian Presidency in the G20 Summit (KTT) in November. "According to this plan, the G20 dinner will use this location. But actually that is not the main goal, but to improve tourist destination services," said Minister Basuki.

Minister Basuki stated that currently the average progress of all TMII renovation works is above 70% and is targeted to be completed by the end of July 2022. "Except for the Tugu Pancasila/Tugu Api because 17 layers of copper must be installed, the details of which will probably be completed in August 2022 ," he said. (LM)
