JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade through the Directorate General of National Export Development (Directorate General of National Export Development) is holding a business matching activity for fishery products with buyers from Japan. The activity was carried out in a hybrid manner in Jakarta, on Monday (25/7). The aim is to promote fishery products, especially fishery products from North Sulawesi Province (North Sulawesi) in the Japanese market. This activity was held in collaboration with the Directorate General of National Export Development with the Regional Government of North Sulawesi Province and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
The activity was attended by five fishing companies from North Sulawesi and three buyers from Japan. In addition, the event was attended by Vice President Director of Jetro Indonesia Yusuke Yoshida, Head of the Industry and Trade Office of North Sulawesi Province Edwin Kindangen, representatives of members of the DPRD of North Sulawesi Province, and representatives of the North Sulawesi customs and excise office.
“Through this important moment, I would like to invite business people from both parties to jointly work on business potential, turn it into business results, and take advantage of fishery market access that is already owned in the Japanese market, " said Director General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade Didi Sumedi when officially opening activities.
North Sulawesi Province is one of the provinces with abundant fisheries commodity resources. One of them, tuna as the largest export commodity with a very good quality of meat texture and taste. According to Indonesian Statistical Data, in the January-May 2022 period, Japan is the second largest export market for fishery products from North Sulawesi Province, after the United States. During that period, the export value of fishery products to Japan was recorded at USD 10 million, with the main commodity being fresh or frozen yellowfin tuna. (LM)
