JAKARTA. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), the bank with the highest market capitalisation in Indonesia, scored a net profit of IDR 18 trillion in the first half of 2022. It grew 24.9% year-on-year (yoy) from the gains recorded in the same period last year.

This net profit proliferation of BBCA in H1 2022 was supported by the realisation of credit distribution, which reached IDR 675.4 trillion. Said achievement reportedly increased 13.8% yoy.

Jahja Setiaatmadja, President Director of BBCA, believed that the growth in the credit distribution in H1 2022 was propelled by the recovering business activities as well as the mobility restriction relaxation. “We noticed a momentum in which the demand for working capital credit surged nearing Eid al-Fitr in Q2 2022 and the interest in consumer credit that continuously improves,” he revealed in the official press release.

BBCA’s credit growth in H1 2022 was thankfully accompanied by the improvement in the credit quality. In this period, the loan-at-risk (LAR) ratio of the company shrank to 12.3%, while its non-performing loan (NPL) ratio remained at 2.2%.

Furthermore, BBCA’s third-party funds in H1 2022 reportedly reached IDR 1,264.5 trillion, shiting upwards by 12.9% yoy. This increase was supported by the growth in current account saving account (CASA) or cheap funds, which moved up by 17.3% yoy to IDR 817.8 trillion. (KR/ZH)
