President Jokowi inaugurates Kijing Terminal of Pontianak Port

MEMPAWAH - The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo accompanied by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Tuesday (9/8), inaugurated the Kijing Port of Pontianak Port, in Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan Province.

In his remarks the President said, Kijing Terminal has been built since 2016 and its presence is expected to increase the competitiveness of superior products produced by the Province of West Kalimantan such as: CPO, alumina, bauxite, and other commodities.

With an investment value of around Rp2.9 trillion, the presence of this port is also expected to increase connectivity between islands in Indonesia and also between countries. “This port has a capacity of 500 thousand TEUs and 8 million non-containers. It is very large and is the largest port in Kalimantan," said President Jokowi.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Transportation explained, the Government has assigned PT Pelindo through concessions, to build Kijing Terminal, which is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN).

The physical work progress of Kijing Terminal is currently 100% complete and ready to operate. The facilities that have been built in Phase IA (initial) starting from 2018 to 2022, include a container terminal and a multipurpose terminal with a pier length of 1000 m, a trestle with a length of 3,450 m, with an estimated capacity of a container terminal of 500,000 TEUs and an estimated capacity of a multipurpose terminal of 500,000 tons supported by an area of ​​200 ha.
