JAKARTA. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) revealed the car sales in the domestic market reached 307,536 units in the first half of 2022, which were 26.7% year-on-year (yoy) higher.
ASII’s car sales were still dominated by Toyota and Lexus, selling off 179,445 units. Then, Daihatsu cars followed with 106,278 units of sales, as did Isuzu with 20,475 units, UD Trucks with 1,025 units, and Peugeot with 313 units.
Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications of ASII, believed that the car sales trend will remain positive in the second half of 2022, considering how car sales in the domestic market had surged 22% yoy until July 2022.
“As the economic recovery continues and GIIAS 2022 takes place, we hope these would arouse Indonesia’s automotive sector,” Soebroto mentioned in the official announcement.
Until July 2022, ASII’s market share in the domestic zone arrived high at 56%. In comparison, in the same period last year, ASII’s market share were at its all-time low, dropping as low as 49%. (KR/ZH)
